Biography Amy Hager Director of Financial Aid Moberly Area Community College My career in financial aid started 25 years ago. My financial aid experience includes proprietary school, professional medical university, and marketing student loans for a bank; but, the bulk of my career has been spent over the last (nearly) 19 years at Moberly Area Community College. I enjoy working with students from all socio-economic backgrounds in their pursuit of higher education. Although I believe the community college option provides the best opportunity for affording college, I have learned that the perspective of affordability is quite different in the minds of those we serve. I have been a member of the Missouri Department of Higher Education (MDHE) State Student Financial Aid Task Force as well as the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and MDHE A+ Scholarship Advisory Committees. I created a program called UCAN2 which was designed to educate and inspire children in our community to believe that college is possible regardless of their barriers. For more than ten years MACC has made it possible for every child from our middle-school to come to our campus for tours, motivational presentations and inter-active activities to teach them that college is affordable and they can make it happen. I am a member of the Missouri Association of Student Financial Aid Personnel (MASFAP), the Midwest Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (MASFAA), and the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA). I have been very active within the state association (MASFAP), holding the following leadership positions: o President-Elect, 2016 (will be president in 2017) o Treasurer, 2013-2015 o Secretary, 2003 o Delegate at Large, 2005-2007 o Membership Committee Chair o Archives Committee Chair o Participant on several committees In addition, I am currently serving my third term on the Moberly Public School’s Board of Education. I have two daughters, my eldest is graduating high school this spring… I can now say that I really do understand the struggles our families face with preparing for college and college affordability.
