Biographical Sketch:
Todd Smith currently serves as Director of Financial Assistance Services at St. Petersburg College where he oversees the services that are being provided to 24,000 financial aid applicants/recipients at nine different campuses. He has 23 years of Financial Assistance Services experience and has assisted a host of institutions of higher learning as they served the families in their respective communities. He has worked as a financial aid administrator for 16 years. Most of those years have been at St Petersburg College and he has also served at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Prior to returning to the college campus, Todd spent 7 years in the student loan industry, serving as a Vice-President and Regional Accounts Manager for Student Loan Xpress, A CIT Company and as an Assistant Vice-President and Regional Accounts Manager for Wachovia Bank. Todd has also served extensively in the community by assisting families in their pursuit of the American Dream. For five (5) years he coordinated and facilitated the CollegeBound Conference, a local program that assisted underrepresented families in their pursuit of post-secondary education. The CollegeBound Conference enhanced their ability to be successful in this endeavor by educating them on the requirements, processes, and benefits that are involved with obtaining a post-secondary education. Todd currently serves in the Big Brothers Big Sisters in-school Mentoring program; he is a Board Member for MYcroSchool, a local public charter school; he has served on the Community Advisory Board for the Dr. Martin Luther King Day of Service; and he is an Assistant Coach for the Clearwater Central Catholic High School Varsity Football Team.
