Biographical Sketch: Brian Smith began his career in the Department of Education in 1987, working on the TRIO, Title III, and other higher education grant programs. In 1995 he began working on the Federal student financial assistance programs. Brian joined the Office of Policy, Planning, and Innovation (PPI) in 2003, where he was worked on several regulatory packages affecting the Direct Loan, FFEL, and Perkins Loan Programs. Brian serves as the lead Program Specialist for the Perkins Loan Program in PPI.
