The 2008 reauthorization of the Higher Education Act added a statutory prohibition against sharing FAFSA data for any purpose other than the application, award, and administration of financial aid. What does that mean exactly, and what are the implications for schools? How does this statutory text differ from FERPA requirements? This session will review the various laws, discuss related precedent outside the law, and review best practices for institutions.
