Over the past year, the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and the House Committee on Education and the Workforce have examined the effectiveness, appropriateness, and responsiveness of the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Federal Student Aid (FSA). Efforts to assess FSA have been done through congressional inquiries, surveys, and hearings. This session will provide background on the role of Congress as an oversight body, examine recent congressional FSA oversight activity, and provide NASFAA perspectives on next steps in this area.
