On September 9, 2015, the College Promise Campaign was launched. Designed to build widespread awareness, support and evidence, the campaign is completing its first year of a three-year plan to make a college education free for students, starting with community colleges. The campaign’s initial goal is for students to make active progress to complete a one-year certificate, a two-year degree and/or university transfer without assuming burdensome debt. To date, more than 130 College Promise programs have evolved in local communities and states across our nation. This session will address the importance of this initiative, its challenges and opportunities.
