Biographical Sketch:
Tracy L. Simmons is the assistant dean of admissions, diversity initiatives and financial aid at McGeorge School of Law, University of the Pacific. She earned both her BA in psychology (with a minor in African American studies) and her MA in education from San Diego State University, and she earned her JD from Golden Gate University School of Law.
Prior to attending law school and working in law school administration, Dean Simmons was a social worker for a private agency in Northern California. Subsequently, she worked at Golden Gate University School of Law, where she became assistant dean for admissions and financial aid. Just prior to joining the admissions team at McGeorge, she was assistant dean of admissions, financial aid, and diversity initiatives at Chapman University Dale E. Fowler School of Law.
Dean Simmons has served as law chair for the Access Group Advisory Board and is involved with the AALS Executive Committee for the Section on PreLegal Education and Admission to Law School and the Section on Part-Time Programs. She is also involved with the Minority Network of Admission Professionals.
Dean Simmons has been active with the Law School Admission Council, first serving on the Services and Programs Committee from 2005 to 2009. She was a member of the Forum Review Work Group (2005–2007), Newcomers Workshop Planning Work Group (2008–2009), Diversity Committee (2009–2011), Annual Meeting and Educational Conference Planning Work Group (2011–2012), and Finance and Legal Affairs Committee (2013–2015). She has also served as an appointee-at-large on the Board of Trustees (2015–2017) and as trustee liaison to the Test Development and Research Committee (2015–2016) and the Finance and Legal Affairs Committee (2016–2017). Dean Simmons currently serves on the Nominating Committee and the Board of Trustees.
