Biographical Sketch:
I have been working in financial aid for 15 years and am currently the Director of Student Financial Services at Santa Rosa Junior College. I have been in this position since 2015. During my tenure at SRJC I have had the opportunity to serve on the College Services Financial Aid/Scholarship Council with College Board, serve on the CCCSFAAA Board, work with college administrators to offer a College Promise, expand our Veterans Services, and implement a new software system. I began my career as a Financial Aid Assistant at Chapman University and quickly fell in love with the profession of financial aid and truly enjoy serving the students. In 2004, I left Chapman and entered the California Community College System at West Hills Community College District as a Financial Aid Coordinator. I soon promoted to the District Director of Financial Aid where I served the students in the Central Valley for 6 years. After leaving West Hills I worked as a consultant in financial aid throughout the United States, where I had the wonderful opportunity to work with two-year and four-year private and public institutions on best practices, compliance and other areas of financial aid. Having the opportunity to work as a consultant has given me a broader perspective on the many different practices institutions use aid to assist students in reaching their goals. However, I missed California and the California Community College system and when the opportunity arose to come back to California I jumped at it. I have had the opportunity to implement several new Financial Aid Management Systems, including PowerFAIDS, and have used the process to streamline the delivery of aid to students. I am a proud mom of three boys, all currently serving in the military.
