Biographical Sketch: Jeff Appel is the Director of Policy Liaison and Implementation at Federal Student Aid. Prior to joining Federal Student Aid in 2016, Jeff worked in the Department’s offices of the Under Secretary as well as the Office of Planning, Evaluation and Policy Development. Prior to working at the Department, he worked for several years on capitol hill as a senior policy advisor and investigator with the House Committee on Education and Labor. And prior to working for the Committee, Jeff worked at the Government Accountability Office (GAO) for over 20 years, and for several years led much of GAO’s higher education and student financial aid-related work.
