Biographical Sketch: Nick Prewett began his role as Director of the Financial Aid and Scholarship Services at Stony Brook University in January of 2020. He has close to twenty years of experience working in financial aid and postsecondary education at the University of Kansas, the University of Missouri, and now StonyBrook. He holds an Ed.D in educational leadership from the University of Kansas. He holds all NASFAA credentials and was a member of the inaugural class of Certified Financial Aid Administrators. He has served in a number of volunteer roles, including President of the Midwest Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, Representative at Large on the NASFAA board of directors, FAAC commission member, and on numerous committees at the state, regional, and national level. He is passionate about advocacy for equity, affordability, and access to higher education, and on a personal note recently learned the proper way to tie his shoes and it has made all the difference.
