Biographical Sketch: Jo Cassar serves as the Director of Financial Assistance and Services at St. Clair County Community College. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Siena Heights College and her Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Detroit.
Jo has worked in the financial aid field for 35 years. Her years of experience include service at four-year private institutions, two-year community colleges as well as the State of Michigan, Office of Scholarships and Grants where Ms. Cassar was the Deputy Director. Ms. Cassar serves on numerous committees at her institution as well as within the St. Clair county community.
Jo has served on various committees at both the state and regional levels. Jo has also provided various financial aid related trainings and workshops to members not only at the state level but at the regional (MASFAA) and national (NASFAA) levels as well. She has also conducted many financial aid workshops at various schools and non-profit organizations throughout the area promoting access to higher education.
Jo believes that being a Financial Aid Administrator is a challenging and rewarding career. She knows firsthand, the importance of having a support system and the opportunities available to one if given a chance in life. Aid administrators are able to change the lives of many, one student at a time.
