Biographical Sketch:
As Vice President of Development, Betsy Burton-Strunk is responsible for revenue generation through corporate and partner relationships at Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF). After 30 years in higher education finance, Burton-Strunk retired and has followed her passion, working for a higher ed based non-profit. TMCF works on behalf of the 47 publicly-supported HBCU’s and its nearly 300,000 students. Through scholarships, capacity building and research initiatives, innovative programs, and strategic partnerships, TMCF is a vital resource in the K-12 and higher education space and is also a source for top employers seeking top talent for competitive internships and good jobs. Burton-Strunk worked with college and university business, financial aid and enrollment management offices for over 30 years, starting with Wachovia Student Financial Services and through transitions with AMS and Sallie Mae. Burton-Strunk enjoys volunteering and helped launch Dress for Success Winston-Salem. She also volunteers with Crosby Scholars, a local scholarship program that encourages students starting in 6th grade to plan for college and develop strategies to pay for college. Burton-Strunk holds a bachelor’s degree from Miami University of Ohio. She lives in Winston-Salem, NC with her husband Elliot and teenage (!) son Evan.
