Biographical Sketch: Elise Marifian is a Ph.D. Candidate in Economics and a Research Associate at the Student Success Through Applied Research (SSTAR) Lab, both at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Elise is an applied microeconomist whose research focuses on policy-relevant issues related to inequality in education, child care, and criminal justice. Her dissertation examines how students' decisions about where to attend college are affected by college advertising and financial aid. Her research has been funded by the U.S. Department of Education, the American Educational Research Association, and the National Science Foundation.
