Many four-year private nonprofit colleges and universities use various institutional aid strategies to attract and retain undergraduates who are unable – or unwilling – to pay the full tuition and fee price. The National Association of College & University Business Officers' (NACUBO) annual Tuition Discounting Study (TDS) measures institution- and student-level tuition discount rates and other indicators of institutional grant awards to first-time, full-time freshmen, and all undergraduates who attend private non-profit colleges and universities. This presentation will provide an overview of the 2016 TDS, which reports discounting rates during the 2015-16 academic year as of the fall 2015, and preliminary estimates for 2016-17.
