When the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program was created, it provided two years of deportation relief to eligible individuals who are not in lawful immigration status and entered the U.S as minors. But with the change in Administrations, many have wondered about the current and future prospects of DACA. Messages coming out of various federal agencies do not help clarify the matter. Should students continue to apply for and renew with the program? What about parents? This session will provide a legal perspective on this complex and controversial subject, including best practices for helping these students overcome barriers.
