The college years are the time when many significant mental health conditions first manifest, which can lead to significant stress and pressure for students. Student mental health has become the number one public health issue on college campuses. This session will focus on creating a welcoming environment for all students, including students with mental health conditions. It will also cover defining a mental health disability and possible reasonable accommodations needed within a financial aid office environment. Attendees will learn how to identify and respond to students in distress, as well as how to identify campus partners to address the needs of students in distress.
