The Early FAFSA filing opportunity afforded to students and families for the first time this year is a simple timing shift with potentially big consequences. From an institutional perspective, the operational challenges include increased overlap between current distinct phases of enrollment work, increased duration of individual enrollment work streams, and misalignment of institutional calendar milestones. The more strategic challenges include both a vastly increased post-aid-packaging comparison-shopping time frame and increased unpredictability in yield rates. Join a group of veteran student financial aid leaders to explore changes, impacts, and lessons learned from the first Early FAFSA cycle.
