Preparations are underway for incarcerated students enrolled in eligible prison education programs to begin accessing Pell Grants on July 1, 2023. While ED plans to publish regulations on Pell Grant eligibility for college-in-prison programs, institutions are developing new programs to serve incarcerated students and collaborating with state education and corrections agencies that will act as key partners. This session will provide an update on where Pell Grant restoration implementation currently stands, and will feature financial aid experts involved in Second Chance Pell to offer insights around how institutions can prepare to effectively support incarcerated students.
